need help

hi i am buying a 1973 charger .the owner says it an original 3 speed man but it has a little panel behind steering wheel which looks to indicate what gear its in in an auto was it there on a manual .also where shifter goes it looks wierd sould the hump panel have been changed if if was auto

No, a manual steering column does not have the gear indicator display.

I'd check this out very carefully. I'm not positive, but I think the 73's were basically a Coronet series car with different trim, so this may not have been "born" as a charger.

Fender tag? VIN? Build sheet? Decoding those will give you some insight. If they are missing, I'd be suspicious.

well if its a clone buy it as a clone but if the original steering column was replaced that could explain it
