Need some help on selling a Mopar 440
Need some help on selling a Mopar 440
I will start off by saying I know nothing about motors or cars. My mother-in-law suffered some major health problems and after the boyfriend left, she is now apparently the owner of a 440. There is a transmission as well. I'm trying to find out where would be the best place to post outside of Craigslist or Ebay to attempt to sell it locally. I have attached the only description I have as well as several photos. Any and all help is appreciated, we live in Port St Lucie, Florida if anyone is local and interested.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Other than what your doing..... Only thing that comes to mind, would be, Post some flyers at the local parts houses and take some to the local car shows and pass then out..
Good luck on the sale.... Prayer sent for the Mother-N-Law to feel better...

There's a lot of gray area there from the point of view of a buyer. While the engine is assembled, and "might be" (probably is) overhauled, built, ?? who knows as to internals and documentation? Who assembled it, and did they know what they were doing? Or is it just a "backyard re-ring?" What heads, cam, pistons are in the engine? Is it even a 440? (Those are not hi performance exhaust manifolds)
Same deal with the Torqueflite. It seems to have been "gone through" or was it just cleaned up and painted? Who overhauled it, what did they use, and did they really know what they were doing? Was it just a "stock" overhaul, or were there some "good parts" installed.
"Apparently the owner" does not conjur up good feelings, either. What if the boyfriend comes back and demands his property back? lawsuit. etc.

That's a nice looking engine and apparently has some valuable parts bolted on it. List it everywhere you can list it, even on other boards pertaining to Mopars. Trouble you'll run into is that most buyers would prefer to hear and see the engine run prior to purchasing. If that's not possible you will get seriously "low balled" on the price unless you run across some one who's willing to put it on a stand and set it up to run even if ever so briefly. IMO, if I didn't hear and see it run, it's value is pretty much scrap rate unless I were a fool or a serious gambler ( unless a guarantee came with the motor ). You will connect eventually with a buyer but the sale will be on their terms. As for lawsuits for the sale, that's between the inlaw and the boyfriend. Motors don't come with ownerships and if bought in good faith, neither do lawsuits (unless suing is your hobby in life). Hard to prove ownership without a reciept from the vendor and documented serial numbers.
