new car......a lil' Blues!
Transport brought my new/old Dodge last night. A 1949 Wayfarer "business coupe" model. All orginal other than a complete make over a few years back. Cosmetically the car was as advertized, very clean in and out. The undercarriage was immaculate. The only problem was I couldn't start the thing! hahahaha!! Funny now but last night the transport guys wanted OUT!!
Ignition switch FROZEN tumblers TUMBLIN' fuel filter and oil canister filter Filthy! Distributor Cap cracked and broken, and choke line detached!!
I guess the seller though I needed a "roller"!!
Years ago this wouldn't be a good situation for everyone involved but I'm older now and of course ....whats that word? Wiser?? Yeah thats it!
Oh well nothing that can't be correct and nothing very expensive to fix.
I'm guessing a can of ether sp)? was how they loaded the poor old boy in Chicago!
Not the best way to have a car delivered, I'll "express" that in the morning HA!! Doc.

Someone restored this car a while back to a fairly high level but then it sat for about 13 months.
I ordered an ignition switch (bad tumblers), new choke cable line (poor shape), distributor cap (multiple cracks) + rotor. Found a local dealer with Gibbs zinc 10/30 and a decent canister filter. Theres an oil leak but I need my son here to check that out heading down on the floor is not an option for me anymore!!!!! That would mean "I've fallen and can't get up" sadly true these days hahaha!!!! Hoping the old carb is not contoured neck so I can take off the oil bath canister for a more modern assembly for more air. I'll throw the bath on for some shows in the future.
Then run this olf boy out about 200 miles within the neighborhood and see what falls off!!! I think a few hundred bucks for filters, gaskets, and lube for the engine, rear, tranny and getting some quality grease in all the fittings will brighten the boy up!!!!
Why would anyone restore a car then let it sit, makes no sense. Doc.
