Not sure what to do

I'm new to this forum not sure I should post this. I have a 02 Dakota (this is only my 2nd dodge to deal with) I'm not impressed with dodge. Anyway. It has a 4.7 motor 4×4. Oil pressure dropped. I shut it off quick. Now it has a knock. Was trying to see what would be the easiest and cheapest way to get it going again. I really don't like working on my own vehicles but i will if need be. Again what would be the easiest and cheapest way to get it running.

More information needed for a better vote. Miles on motor, compression results. I'm not sure but can the oil pan be removed without pulling engine?

If it is a 4x4 ? the front diff gets in the way. I would pull the motor and turn it upside down and inspect the crank & bearings

Opinion. Difficult engine to rebuild, not a good engine.

If it was mine I'd first look at a used replacement engine drop it in and hope for the best and probably sell it. If I planned to keep it I'd get a 5.9 L V8 with the computer and wiring and convert to this better engine.

Put a Recon motor in it or send that one out to be rebuilt.. Or just cut and run and sell it as is..
