Oil Priming the 440

Oil Priming the 440

Iam trying to oil prime the 440 and I get oil in the pump and then goes right back down...Iam not getting oil up on top where the valve covers go..I put in the set scrwe right behind the timing chain and the other that is pointing in the angle towred the front..What the heck am I missing?

Turn the crank while priming, this will line up the camshaft oil holes with the passage to the head. When you get at the right spot you should here a squirt sound and your there, turn it further to do the other side.

On the smallblocks TDC mark at approx. 10:00 + 2:00, can't remember if the big ones are the same.

the chrysler small block has a galley plug right behind the dist gear. but dont know about the big block.

i got it to pressure up to about 70 psi with the drill going CCW is their only 2 holes that need to be plugged up ...1 behind the timing chain and the other 3/4 down on the left side if you are sitting in front of it?those are the only 2 i found with threads.
I still need to work on to get the oil going over the top.
