performer intake or street master?

I have a 318 with a street master on it right now, but I also have a performer intake. I was originally going to put the performer on but ive been reading up latly and I found that the streetmaster is a single plane, but it is made for a 318 so it has very small runners so the velocity is kept up so the bottom end torque doesnt suffer at all. So I guess what im asking is, will I see performance gains if I do switch to the performer? Is it worth changing out?

My 318 is mildly built up, probably is around 300 hp. Its my weekend driver but i like to slam it down

If you are always high in the RPM's racing chevys and such keep the single plane, the performer will be more "streetable" for driving around town.
Some guys swear by the single plane tho. Personally I have the Performer RPM on my 340 duster and love it, around 300h.p as well. Its just a weekend car and I'm very happy with it.

Lets us know what you go with!!

i would say your performance loss or air flow loss will be in the heads before the intake. either a set of 360 heads or port and stuff in larger valves in your 318 heads.

Yep Im putting on 360 heads. Which intake would go best with those heads? Just a normall 360 1.88 valve, milled about .030 over.

the performer should flow more my last 318 combo was just that with a 268 cam stock valve size is perfect for the 318 if any mods i would do would port the heads,
milling 0.30 to 0.50 max

Hmm, you think the performer flows better? Even with the street master being a single plane? Heres what I was thinking (correct my thinking if its completly wrong ha) the 360 heads might lower the low end a little, will the performer's dual plane make up for the heads low velocity?

I would definitely use the Performer with 318 heads or 360 heads. That Streetmaster, which I have in my collection, has a very small plenum opening below the carb. It was not one of Edelbrocks best offerings, I would use it on a 318 with 2 barrel carb or a 318 turbo engine but thats it.
