I've always wanted a cuda, but never go to the point that I did a ton of research into them. I know very little about the nitty gritty of what the differences are between models/trims.
Photos of the car are at the bottom of this post
The car is listed as a "1970 barracuda" and the listing claims "has all original parts". Thats all. The person selling it inherited the car from his grandfather and doesnt know a ton about it. They want $25k. They havent gotten me the VIN or a photo of the VIN plate, but I asked for it. Just waiting.
From my 2 hours of googling, I think I'm looking at a 1970 AAR. It looks like the 340 just had a new filter and valve covers put on it. I've checked and found similar valve covers from Holley for the 340. The hood appears to have the same slots as the AAR hood, and it has "AAR" sprayed on the spoiler and fenders. I cant find any information on those markings or why they would be there. It has not started in over a year, but it did start last time there was an attempt.
Is this what I think it is, or am I totally off base? Is $25k crazy?

Cool Project car.. Looks to be a 1970...
Not all Original as far as I can see..
Has not been Registered for 29 years.... Dont see how you could test drive it?
Dont look like an AAR Cuda... Nope....
Not a 340 car.... Engine is a 400 Cube Inch up to 440....
Need to look under the car and see how much rust it has... Check the floor pans for rust and holes.... Overall... Car needs a lot of work....
Whats the least he would take for it..... And how bad do you want it?
To me it is a huge project transformation... But You do these for the love of them and the passion, not because your trying to flip them...
Just my 2 cents
I'll throw in an amount in a little bit... After a little more input....

I'm realizing how ignorant I am with these cars, because everybody has told me it looks like a big project, but to me it looks fairly simple. It doesnt look to be covered in rust, body is good, it has an interior that could be salvaged. Even if the engine needs a rebuild, at least it has one. It looks like a pretty easy restore, but I dont have the most keen eye with this stuff as I've never done it before.

I could See 8,000 to 10,000, the way it sits,
But if the sheet metal and floor pans and undercarriage are all good and it Looks like it has most of the parts to work with..
And if your hearts in it and you have the will and a budget with resources?
Should be a nice fun car when your done with it !!!
My old 1970 Challenger...
