Removing Carbon from pistons.
Just a quick FYI I found while trying to de-carbon these 2.7 pistons and valves. Permatex Gasket Remover takes off carbon quickly! 20 minutes, and a stiff brush. A Soak in hot water with Simple-Green solution [few ounces per gallon] for a day or two does the rest! I used nothing more than a toothbush. I'll have some before-and-after pics this weekend when I can find my camera. I like lo-buck, and no abrasive cleaning. The Simple-Green also seems to leave a residue that resists rust. So dont rinse and polish the part unit you are ready to use it.

OK, I upped the game today! I now have a Ghetto Hot-Tank! I bought an 18 quart roaster from Goodwill today for $5. Couple gallons of water, and about 12 oz of Simple Green. This thing is the ****! I let it simmer all day and my parts are spotless and non-toxic. Non-flammable is a plus too.
