Spam nightmare

I was visiting Steve's ( C4C ) site this morning and when I logged in every new thread in every section in the main menu was Spam. Some jerk selling pills. Check it out. From top to bottom Spam. Now if the Mods here want to deal with that everyday then Facebook is the answer. I myself don't want to have to deal with that crap on a daily basis so I say again NO FACEBOOK.

Yes, I slept in a little late this morning, some days the spam is worse than others. All gone, but once it starts it never stops.

Image verification. I'm still just learning this stuff and I'm happy for any and all suggestions!

If they are going thru the trouble to register anyway, I don't think facebook or any other website or marketing attempt is going to change the outcome, they will still have to go thru the same registration process to post either way, so it's just a matter of do we want to get the word out about the forum and take the good with the bad ( and weed out the bad, which is what a mod job is), or just hope google helps people find us. Wadda ya think?

I'm on here several times a day as it is and am always going through some of the older thread and cleaning them up as well.

I'm not sure if Steve has help with from other people on his site, but we do have 6 or 7 mods here that do a pretty good job of keeping this place clean and a few members that let us know of a spam post/thread as soon as they see it.

Starting a Facebook group was just an idea since there are so many people on there and it is free. If the general concence is to not start one, then I won't.

I am working on stickers and have some thoughts about a flier (much like you would see at a show) about us that I will be posting up (and can email to people). You guys and gals will be more than welcome to print it out and hand them out at local clubs and shows.

Just with work and home stuff going on, I'm a little behind.

There are just a couple of us that do it over there. (clean up) so yes it gets some spam sometimes.

I just thought of this, If you are there, visiting, why not post something while there? we welcome everyone especially the mopar guys. (I need all the help I can get)

steve, i emailed you, and we can also discuss your security setup over there...

i expect spam to be a growing problem, mostly due to unemployment. in the past, spammers were 'bots" who were too stupid to get around basic roadblocks. now, with so many people unemployed, in noticing that spammers seem to have some personality, leading me to believe that they are english speaking, and real people...this will make blocking them more of a problem.

Well if that is the case, I'm sure that the "ban" and "delete" buttons will be getting plenty of use here to keep them away.
