Spark plug mayhem

Has anyone used the spark plug sandblaster tool? Maybe with walnut shell or baking soda? On a related note, I have a pile of used Champion spark plugs in fair condition, but are 1 heat range hotter than what I've been running and are in need of a good cleaning. Is going from a 12 to a 14 going to really make a difference?

Yeah, Champion. They're made in the USA. What's wrong with them?

Ok, so far my choice of spark plug brand has been questioned and my income level has been attacked without the actual thread questions being addressed. Wow. I use Champions because I only buy American made products. I make enough money to pay my bills, my exwifes bills, child support, and drive a $50K seasonal car while still having disposable income (and I'm only 34 years old and have a blue collar job). So, does anyone here not feel threatened by me enough to answer my original questions?

I use Champions in my Mopars, always have. I've used other brands recommended by the manufacturer for that vehicle but stayed away from the gimmicky multiple electrodes etc.

My long time licensed mechanic pal has blasted his plugs for years. He has a plate with threaded holes he screws them into so he can hold on to many at the same time.

I have always found it odd that so many people will get set on what THE best plug is, I see alot of this in the snowmobiling community too.

Oh, and the 12-14 not a big deal, matters more for the higher end performance engines I have found, running richer mixtures and higher rpm ranges.

Wow...Sorry Dude......

12-14 is just a heat range move... If you need it a little hotter or cooler, you have a choice....
As for the Spark Plug blaster... We do have one at our shop... We use "Glass Beads" in it because it cleans very well. We have cleaned some plugs that might be questionable from time to time. and yes it dose do a good job.

Didnt mean to **** you off man not at all.....

Years ago there was a spark plug cleaner/tester and it cleaned the plugs and also allowed you to check the spark. Spark plug cleaners work well but you need to make sure they are free of the sand or glass beads after your done blasting them..

Absolutely nothing wrong with champion plugs IMO, i use them in my 340, always have always will. They work well for me. As far as cleaning, as long as there are no cracks and they are not burnt, clean away, gap 'em properly and go cruisin'! keep a spare or two in the glove box and have a wild time on the avenue...

Spark plugs should not NEED to be cleaned unless there is something wrong with the engine, the fuel, or the plugs themselves, IE that is causing them to foul

I would NOT go from a 12 to a 14 if the 12's are what is called for and "show well" for readings

The used plugs are out of some of my customer's generators. I changed them as part of the routine maintenance, (manufacturer reccomends changing them every year but I push it to 5 cause they still appear new). Edelbrock specified the 12s in the cylinder head literature, but I don't know if elevation or quality of fuel or other factors would weigh in on this. I need to check 'em out, haven't pulled a single plug in 5-6 years!

I also want to apologize for the chip on my shoulder last night.
