What is this ?

Hi, I have a 1953 Chrysler Windsor de luxe, 4 doors, in Line 6 cyl. Semi automatique. I have a wire not connected to anything. It came from this thing on the top left side of the engine (when facing The car). See the picture. The wire going to the other side of the engine should be connected to what ?
Thanks !

I'm going to guess that, that is the choke thermostat for the carburetor. If the linkage goes up to the choke plate in the top of the carb. then I would say that's what it is.
As for the wire (If it is not shorted) must go to the + side of the ignition coil or to a positive source in the local proximity?
Just a hunch..

And when you say + , is it the ground ? Because The car is grounded with the positive side of the battery.

Thanks !

LOL... I had a feeling you would ask that....Hahahahahahahaha
So the car is wired as Positive Ground? Then, Yes your assumption is correct..
But it still would have to be a keyed source. If not, it would stay hot all the time and never set the choke. Ether way it has to get interrupted.
