what is a golden lion engine?

I bought this either 383 or 413 engine out of a bone yard, it was in a motor home but the exterior was missing so I could not find a production date.

Can someone tell me where to look for numbers on the block, are they located behind the a/c bracket stamped into that flat spot on the block?
I have a 76 440 block and the cu in is cast into the block did they also do this to all their engines.

The engine has a torque converter and flywheel (one piece) which is bolted to the crankshaft and the ignition system is points not electronic.

Thanks for any help.

If there is a flat spot on the block behind the water pump housing thats a 440. Look there or on the side of the engine above the oil pan.

If memory serves there were two Golden Lions, one was a 383 and the other a 413. There will be numbers on your block like Commando said. Get the numbers and we will decode it for ya. May I ask why you think it's a lion ?
Does it have the GL breather ?
