What Junk yard carbs would work on my truck?

The qjet in my pickup is getting pretty worn out. I've read about rebuilding them, but i dont want to pay for it, or deal with it. ( a difference of .0001 in the idle tube size will mess the whole thing up)

Carter carbs were really common on older mopars right? So any AFB/AVS
should work? What about the thermoquad, did they come in non-emisihions form.

I've looked at the eddy carbs, any i dont want to swing $200 for a reman from summit, plus the adapters and such.

Anyone have a list of carbs that would work a-Ok on my 360? I dont mind buying a square to spread bore adapter. Will a square bore carb mess up my gas milage? I'm on an all time high streak of 14.

To the best of my knowledge the Edelbrock Performer Series carbs are the Carter carbs, as Edelbrock bought Carter out.

I have a Carter 9606 and the Edelbrock 1405 is same same.

Doesn't answer much of your question, just some info.

Joe.

well edlebrock didnt buy out carter, carter was bought out way before edelbrock though about the carbs, many times, weber owns the afb/avs design and produces the carb for edlebrock. the thermal quad has the emissions hook ups but they work fine on older engines, the thermal quad will get better mpg due to the small primary's. the afb/avs carb will work just fine, 525/600 cfm afb. 525/750 avs, 600/800 thermalquad
