What to know about the late la block heads
So I知 starting off with my first project. I plan on putting a 360 la out of a van into a 87 dakota. The van is a 1987 ram 350. I知 wondering about what heads would be on it and how well they would work. I plan on having something fun to drive. I have seen some home porting work pretty good. But I知 wondering if the heads on the late model la blocks are even worth it. I plan on doing a mild cam. I hear a hughs whiplash is a good cam and headers to. This is a factory 4bbl van.

Welcome.
For a street car 360 head castings are good, any step up and your into Edelbrock aluminum. For cams I would look at Comp Cams Extreme Energy or Lunati Voodoo, much better choice. Just be realistic and don’t over cam it. Don’t forget your rear gear ratio for a good result of the whole package.

Also. The cams are all interchangeable throughout the years. So a cam from a 1970 la would go in a 87 or newer la? Are there any differences between the motors? And what choked out the late 360s hp
