Why do you guys like mopar?
Did you just grow up around them, or just personal preference?
Personally I think dodge and Plymouth had the most bad *** cars during the whole muscle car era, my favorites being the 70 charger and cuda. I remember when I was younger and i was living in NY and I was walking home from school id see everyday boring cars on the street , then 1 day I saw some guy had a yellow 1970 coronet superbee parked outside his house. I remember saying, what the hell is that? Back then I didn't know what it was.
Now that I live in NC all you ever see is lame *** civics and mustangs every 10ft, even with the modern day chargers and challengers you don't even see that many of them.
Just wondering what makes some of you like Chrysler more then chevy or ford. Thoughts anyone?

When I was a kid I remember my dad always had a plymouth or a dodge. He had a little bit of a street racer in him,and well,I guess it just sorta rubbed off! I love mopars but do also like a nice chevelle or stang.Just a car guy!

Honestly this guy is new to the Mopar, My dad has had a 70 charger, with 440, always liked it but didnt love it ( never aloud to drive it ), So I bought a 02 camaro z28, fun as hell fast as all heck! Than I found a 73 duster...me and the meek boys racing team had our way with it. Did small things like a engine overhaul, and re-did wiring from tail lights to head lights, interiour...anyway I AM MOPAR LIFE! (camaro is now a dust collector on the other side of my garage)

guess you could say i grew up around them we had a 71 Satellite 4 door that sat in our back yard that my dad rolled and we also had a 70 Barracuda my uncled drove until in rusted out back then. always liked the performance and look of them

I bought my 68 Coronet 500 in 1992 when I was 17. I bought it with 900 dollars from my College grant.
It came with a blown 2 barrel Carter carb, and when I went to my first Holley, the way the car woke up, just blew my mind.
I have to be honest, I grew up wanting a Chevelle, but I saw so many around. . . The Coronet was so unusual!
Then I learned about how Mopar is kind of the odd man out, and something about that appealed to me.
THEN I learned about drag racing and how revolutionary the 426 hemi was, and FORGET ABOUT IT. . . .
Mopar is on the top of my list, but I really love the year 1968 across all makes. I feel like for me, automotive design reached PERFECTION in 68.

At the time I bought my first 69 RR, in the summer of 70, I had grown up breaking weak --assed Chivvy rear ends and transmissions. Friend of mine had a screacher of a 65 Chevelle that he'd swapped a 350, 4 speed and Ralley wheels out of a wrecked 68 Camaro. The cam went flat and we swapped in the incredibly popular 350 hp 327 cam TWENTY SEVEN bucks at the dealer!!!
But this thing had a 10 bolt rear and he broke two of them while at Treasure Island (Us Navy, San Francisco) and broke THE INPUT SHAFT of the Muncie!!!
That experience, along with my own broke 57 and 63 Chivvy stuff spurred me to "try" a Plymouth.
I really didn't like Ferds much at the time, although I've always appreciated the 'Stangs. At the time, I didn't know just how strong a Ferd 9" was, and I don't remember If I realized at the time how good the toploader 4 speeds were or I might have become a "Ferd man!!!" (You can't call me Ferdinand!!!!
69 383 Road Runner 4 speed, Edelbrock, Holley, headers
70 440 sixpack Road Runner 4 speed, 3.54 Dana, Edelbrock, 800/ 850 Holley, headers
64 426 Dodge "440", later 440 4 speed
62 Toy FJ-40 Landcruiser, 340 - A833 4 speed, Jeep transfer case

My first car was a 1952 Plymouth... Yes I'm old as dirt and almost as "CRUSTY".... I think I was 15 or 16 when I bought it... I got it from the local Dodge, Plymouth dealer.. He had taken it in on a trade and had fixed it up and was using it as a parts pickup car.. I kept bugging him to sell it to me and finally he did... It was a real lead sled!!!! Six banger with three on the tree... It was my first car and I still wish I had it back... He had split the manifold and had put duals on it with glass packs... Had roll and pleated the interior and it was painted a medium blue with baby moons on it... Would not even spin a wheel but it was still cool.... That started my love of Mopars and while I have owned other brands my love is still Mopars...... And always will be.....

My first car was a 440/4 speed roadrunner in highschool, as i grew older i strayed to other brands built some cool street cars, mud trucks ect. I had finished my previous project in early 2006 came into some extra money and went looking for another project [me 1969 camaro or wife a 60s truck] we ended up with my 66 cuda and we now also have a 73 charger,98 ram 3500 and there several others on the wish list. I like being the odd man out anyone can build a chevelle, camaro, mustang but every show i attend there are very few mopars and more than likely no 64-66 cudas i'm mopar or no car forever.

In high school I inhareted my Grandfothers 70 Plymoyth Fury, when I got out of school I bought a 68 Charger that I totaled, a couple years later I bought my 62 Fury got married, had children and new if I got rid of it I would never have another car, So I held on to it and put a little money into it every year and have driving the wheels off it every sommer

I'm a car guy in general, but Mopars are some of my favorites. From the art deco era to the fins, Imperials, 300s to the muscle era to the Vipers, there are so many to love. Plenty to love from the ****** coupes and CJs, Graham Paige shark noses, Javelins, AMXs, Rebel Machines, etc as well. The Superbird and Daytona are high on the list as far as iconic and standing out.

i gerw up with fords and cheys broke down all the time. then i got a 1978 plymouth fury for $100 ,drove it , sold it , got it back ,drove it ,sold it , got it back , and then sold it and they got it inponded. That car is still on my record and i wont pay them a penny less they give me that car back! It was trying to tell me something back then. It even towed my broke down ford truck and a freinds buick. If i got that car back id never let it go. it would go threw mudd got 20mpg hwy and i lived in it for a summer(with Tv) Cant do that with a Honda

When I was a youngster in the late 60's early 70's, my buddies and I would ride our Schwinn Stingrays to the new car lots in Riverside and the hot Mopars (Hemis, 440 Six Packs/6bbls, etc.) would be on display out front. One day we watched the salesmen fire them all up to lock them up for the night and these cars were absolutely wicked! NOTHING compares to the sound eminating from these brand new cars! I can remember that the guy in the Hemi Charger/4spd killed the engine a few times just trying to move the car around.....
A few years later in '72, my girlfriends dad bought her a "safe and dependable" 2 yr old (1970) with 10,000 miles "cute little purple car" that said "Duster 340", that she putted around in, and everytime we went through the Del Taco Drive-thru, she'd be asked to "shut the car off" so that her order could be heard... She also complained about it being hard to steer in parking lots.
I got my driver's license and one night, she let me drive her "cute little purple car". I couldn't believe it!!!! She had been driving me around town, at the speed limit for 6 months!!! I don't think that she could believe it either!!
That car, bone stock with cute little U.S. Indy Mags, Goodyear Polyglass white letter tires, front disc brakes without power assist :-( AM radio, bucket seats, no console, no power steering, no A/C and dual exhaust was absolutely off the hook!!!
The brakes were scary and sometimes it took two feet but, you had to learn the car to allow for these things! And yes, she was right, parking wasn't easy!
And that's how I became a MOPAR lover!

I came out of a Ford family. One day in 1973, my folks were looking at Plymouths at the dealership on RT22 in Monroeville, PA, and they had just put up a huge, lifesized, poster of a 73 Roadrunner with the cartoon bird next to it. I fell in love with that car and have been driving 73/74 Roadrunners ever since.

I like mopar because they always had their own style. From the bright colors, names, to the factory options. The engines always seem to have a more recognizable sound, to me anyways. I've always like the rarity of most of the mopar cars too. My dream car has always been a 1969 Daytona

Why Mopars
1970 just finished helicopter flight school on my way to Viet Nam and making the unheard amount of $625. mo. I was from S Texas and had 4 months before leaving. I went to Corpus Christi Tx. to test drive a Mercury Eliminator. I must say it was a really nice and quick little car. Found out the car had been stolen off the lot and decided against it.
I was dissapointed and found myself driving behind a car hauler carrying a Plum Crazy 70 Challenger. Followed that car to Robstown Tx and went in and told the man I wanted that car. Nope, their first and didn't want to sell. Told them my story manger got involved and the next day I picked it up . I had signed up for an unheard mo. payment of $135.00.
Asked lead mechanic how to break it in. He asked how I I was going to drive it
- I said hard and he said break it in the same way. Before that car had three miles on it I was crusing at 110 down a two lane FM road.
Girl with me could not keep her hair in the car, rolled me a smoke and listened to the Allman Bros.
Oh by the way through the cig lighter out some where along the way-but it didn't matter given where I was going.
Never ever lost my feeling for that car. Drive a 69 Roadrunner now and I feel the same way every time I crank it up as I did the day I picked up that Challenger

I am 16 but have always had an interest in cars. My Uncle owns a chevy car dealership and my best friends dad owns a dodge dealership. I loved riding in my grandpa's 1963 chevy impala and my uncles 1969 red camaro. It took some time to really decide what i wanted but i knew i wanted a car i could build and work on. I finally found a car that i feel in love with at first sight a 1974 Plymouth duster. Mopars just have bad *** look designs and i love them.

Their younger borthers (also my uncles) were really into Pontiacs, had 67-69 firebirds, a couple of GTO's, and a 72 Camaro (they wrecked a lot of cool cars!). Right now Joe has a '67 firebird and Jon has a 66 GTO both in various stages of restoration.
That being said, you would think I would be a GM man, but for some reason, when I was12-13 (early '80s) I started buying Wheeler Dealer magazines, looking for that perfect first car. I took notice of the mopars, and how cool they were. I liked how they put virtually every power plant in most all models. I even heard rumors that in the late '60s the built two factory optioned 426 hemi station wagons! i don't know if that is true, but I thought it was cool.
I bougt a '72 Charger when I was 15 for $50, and have been hooked ever since. (looking for another, any good deals out there?)
