1970 RR restore...
#3
I was second owner of one of these "in the day." My alltime favorite car. Later, in the "first" gas crisis of the early '70's I swapped a THREE40 into the car and quickly found that Chrysler made a HUGE mistake by not putting the little small block into B bodies. A 350 Chevelle, if you will. With headers the only change, still driving the hemi 4 speed and Dana 3.54 rear. that engine would get over 17 mpg on the highway, and STILL stay with a stock 383 RR.
Most of the time I owned the car with the 440, it did NOT have the sixpack on. Instead wore a 180* Edelbrock and 800 Holley. I also played with about every carb made, some because I rebuilt them on the side. The 800 would produce 13.0 dragstrip times, and still get 13.8 mpg. The car had "hang on" A/C added
Those WERE the days.
