My Emissions Era Gold
My Emissions Era Gold
This was my first truck, a '77 D-100, it spent most of it's life on a farm, all it ever did was haul hay. It was originally a 318 3 on the tree. The 318 finally gave up after 310-ish thousand miles. So I found a 74 440 to shove in there. Of course, much to the disapproval to my boss and anyone I tell, I am keeping the A-230 behind the 440 because A, a three on the tree big block half ton is slick and B, the transmission was rebuilt right before I bought it, no point in letting it go to waste.
The story I heard is that the farmer was a big dodge guy and bought farm trucks by the half dozens from auctions but this was the only one he bought brand new. So when the front brakes locked up after 300+ thousand miles he just drug it to the back of his field and let it rot because he had dozens of others just waiting to take it's place.
This is my '85 W150. 225 leaning tower of power, NP-435 4 speed, 136k miles. Was an old Forestry Service truck. My plans for this one is a cool 80's styled truck, front police style push bar, roll bar in the back with KC lights, CB antennas coming off the roll bar. Truck needs some body work but I am going to try my hand a painting, obviously gonna paint it the same forestry green cause it's a beautiful color.
This truck has a cool story to it, the forest service employee drove this truck from the time the service got it in '85 to when he retired in '86, well he liked it so much that he requested to purchase it from the forest service. They ended up giving it to him as a retirement gift. He drove it semi-regularly until '93 when he passed. Then it sat until the summer of 2024 when the guy I bought it from purchased it. This truck is completely mint and I'm so glad I bought it.
