New to the Mopar Club!
I was looking to get a car for my 17 year old son, figured about $3,000 was all I could really afford.
One of the very first listings I found on Craigslist was a 1969 Plymouth Fury III 2-door hardtop, in really good condition.
Since Saturday, we've spent right at $100 getting it road-ready, and $65 of that was for a battery.
Brake shoes for both back brakes, 2 upper control arm bushings, and 4 lug nuts and one lug post.
A/C is there but doesn't work, blower motor works.
Most gauges don't work, but after-market gas and temp gauges came on it.
There is minor rust in a few spots, the worst area is the trunk plate.
The interior is in better shape than my '98 Yukon.
Seriously, if I had spent $3,000 at a used car lot, I'd have ended up with a '98 Sunbird with 180,000 miles.
This car will continue to increase in value whether he decides to keep it or sell it later.
Seriously, I believe the car is probably worth $5,000 - $6,000 as it sits in the driveway right now.
I'm pretty thrilled.

Sucked gas and the tranny blew up within the first 4 or 5 months.
Anyway, we're about $150 in on parts, and most of the necessities are fixed.
Speedometer cable had been simply left detached, so we re-attached and now speedometer/odometer work.
Replaced brake light switch and now brake lights work.
Passenger window slipped out of the track, but we stumbled through that and got it right.
At this point we need a front-end alignment and oil-change/filter.
He's driving it to school each day for band camp (about 9 or 10 miles round-trip).
Wife and I took it out Friday night to go see a movie.
Has an aftermarket temp and fuel gauge.
Temp seems pretty accurate (hovers around 190-210), but the gas gauge is WAY off.
Guy that had it marked with a magic marker just over half-tank to show when it was near-empty.
However, it mostly just reads Full, even when I ran out of gas Saturday!
Need to get that figured out.
Otherwise, we are super-excited!
