Finally decided on a wheel and tire package for the 880!

So I went wheel and tire shopping yesterday for the 880. I love the original look of the car, but it needs some wheels. After spending over an hour at my local discount tire I think I finally found what I want ... I decided on the boss 338's. I am going with an 18x9.5 in the rear and a 18x8 in the front. I can't wait to see what they look like on the car. I'll post new pics as soon as they get mounted on the car. She may not be fast, but at least she'll look good going down the road!!

What kind of wheel and tire set up did you go with 68 sat? I hope they look as good on the car as I vision in my mind. I just don't want it to look like I drove it out of the ghetto, but I want a nice clean look!

This is what I have decided on for my Fury.
I am going with a 15" x 7" and will install a set of 70 series whitewall tires for the factory look.

The magnum 500 is a good looking wheel! I thought about getting it for my dodge, it definitely helps preserve the classic look! I'm not into a whole bunch of mods for my car other than the wheels, exhaust, and I think I'm gonna put an edelbrock carb and intake on her. other than that, she's just gonna be my cruising machine! But I really think that will look good on your fury!! Send me some pics when you get them put on

They have a classic Cragar wheel look to them but still look modern. Good choice.

Thanks for the comments! Thats exactly what I wanted was a modern version of the cragar. With the rim size I wanted I was limited in my options unless I wanted to hand out $2000 + and that just wasn't in my budget.

Nice choice on the rims just don't go with rubber band type tires. You want to fill up those big wheel wells. Even with an 18 inch rim you still want at the least a 26 inch tall tire, 29 inch is better. Just my opinion tho, your taste is what counts on your ride.

Well the wheels and tires finally came in. I kind of wanted the tires to be taller, but I think they look good! I know this style isn't for everyone though. The front center caps wouldn't fit, so I need to get on ebay and order some, or I need to fabricate the center caps that came with it, and I also need to paint my rear drums!

It looks pretty good! And if you like the way it looks, that's the important thing!
I'll bet that it drives different! Paint those drums! lol

Thanks, yeah I like the rear better than the front, it needs something, I'm just not sure what! I definitely need to paint the drums, I painted the front the other day when I put new shocks on, but I still need to paint the rears and the leaf springs. Thats next on my to do list!

The original set up is much better. Let s say perfect.

It's obvious for me that it's posible that if you put two beautiful things together the result can be... well let's say... ugly. It can also work the other way round.

What was the problem with the original wheels? Did your friends dont like them.

Good luck.

Interesting comment, nothing was wrong with the original set up of the car. As a matter of fact I appreciate the original look of the car. However I'm only 27 years old, so for me, I don't feel the need to have some sort of preservation of my past. I enjoying meshing modern style with classic cars. If I cared what my friends thought I would have never bought a 1964 dodge 880, I would have bought some new import with a turbo!

Nice response. I was driving cars back then and like the custom touch. Stock was never good enough. Here is what I have going on the Chrysler. Just need to find a decent set of 14" tires.

Scott,
The 18's look great.
What size tires are you using on the front and rear.
Are you getting any tire rub in the front?
