1971 Satellite will not come out of park

I have a 1971 satellite sebring plus that will not come out of park
It worked ok when it was parked in the covered carport 15 yrs. ago. Was going to move it yesterday and would not come out of park
I put a battery in it and checked to make sure the brake switch was working, it worked ok.
What could be the possible cause

Welcome. Long time, mechanical linkage likely bunged up, could be internal or external, lubricate external, rock car or lift rear tires when moving lever out of park. Is it column or floor shift?

I agree with Dan I would start with the shifter and make sure everything is free and clear.
