318 2bbl carb hp question

hello, new here, i may soon be purchasing a 1982 mirada that has a 318 2bbl and was wondering what hp rating it is. on wikipedia it says 130 and 245 ft/lbs of torque, this seemed low to me as my dads 98 ram 318 has 225. is this because of the fuel injected technology of the newer 318, or because of the improvments made over the years to the 318's in general?
how bout upgrading to a 4 bbl carb?
thanks

130 in 82 is about right. 70 it would have been 230hp. a good intake and 4bbl carb with the stock cam would probably be around 150 hp, the way it was on the dyno in 82, 270 they way it was on the dyno in 70.
in the mid 70's manufactures were required to dyno the engines the same. and i believe that was rear wheel hp not crank hp.

thanks for the reply, i have been researching this, and in the early to mid 80's (and even late 70's) is when chrysler products were making extra efforts to reduce emmissions, so smog filters and such were added every where they could, removing these items should also unrestrict the motor.
headers might do a good job helping the motor breathe as well?
