Can anyone tell me what the gear ratio is in a 8 1/4 rear end? Also will a 1960 stock 3 speed auto bolt up to an after market 318 without an adaptor plate?

theres various gear ratios. not just one.. there could be a tag on one of the bolts on the 3rd member. if not then you gonna have to jack the car up. put the tranny in neutral and count the revolations of the wheel to drive line....if your 3 speed is a small block transmission then yess it will bolt right in too your 318.

no then.. i dont think they make adaptor plates for those either. so id just try and find a good A727 trany
