I have no idea where you can get them, anymore, but it is basically two functions in one

A switch for the dome / courtesy lamps

A series variable resistance for the instrument lamps brightness control

So, yeah, you could pull it out, the tan is the feed to the instrument lamps. You'll have to probe with a test lamp, parking lamps on/ off to find which wire controls that power, and make a temporary jumper to hook them together.

Frankly, after you get it out, I'd spend a little time with it. There's not much to it, it's a wirewound resistor, and the **** moves a "wiper" contact around it. Might just be dirty/ corroded, or the connector loose/ dirty/ corroded.

I see them on E-Bay once in a while. They are advertised as reconditioned. Mine has a couple of dead spots as I rotate it. The next time I remove the switch panel, I am going to clean in it up to see if it helps.
