727 questions

I am rebuilding my 727 (my first) and at the same time changing it to a longer tailshaft. When I disassembled the donor tranny, everything was as the book showed. When I disassembled the motor home 727 everything was the same except the accumulator had a smaller spring under it and nothing on top. Wouldn't this allow it to upshift too soon or would this improve performance? Also, has anyone used the 5 to 1 ratio kickdown lever. Did it improve performance? Other than these questions, my first automatic rebuild has been easier than I thought. Your thoughts on these questions will be appreciated

727 Tranny

I do beleive the spring setup is different in a big-block engine application, did the motor home have a big block? I think I still have pictures in an old petersen's rebuild manual. I can check if interested.

I am just question why they put the spring under the accumulator. Wouldn't it eliminate the function of it? Does it improve performance?
