ok guys i need your opinion on a cam, I'm building a mild 318 i have slightly ported and polished heads, they've also been milled a little bit I'm not sure on the exact specs, I'm running an msd ignition system, i have a 4 barrel intake and carb that came off a 360 and im goin to swap cams, now the question is which cam should i get ive found one that i can afford but it comes in two different specs, the one is 216/216 duration at .050 and .454/.454 lift with the op range of 2000-5000 rpms, the other is 228/228 duration at .050 and .480/.480 lift with the op range of 3000-6000 rpms, which one would i be better off with, this car is going to be a street car just for when i wanna somewhat fast car and i may take it to the track every now and then if its quick enough. whats your thoughts?

X2 Look at your tach, where do you spend most of your time? Having overcammed a motor before, if you are between choices, go for the smaller one. An overcammed street car is a miserable thing. Really think about it, how many seconds do you really spend between 5000 and 6000 rpm? Not many.

from my cam experiences - id find the one that seems mild, tame and fits the bill for what you want now, then step it up one. after a few weeks of driving you'll get used to the setup and want more...

well just keeping you guys posted on things, got the new cam and lifters and pushrods and everything went together nicely i also got a shift kit installed in the trans, ran into a little problem with distributors but no big deal im going to switch it out when i get the extra
for it but hopefully ill get everything back in over the weekend i do still need to find headers for it, does anybody know what headers will for that body style? i had a set of full length hooker headers but they wouldn't fit due to the oil filter location and the steering gear box

i run with a tach on my car and the stock rear end keeps me at 1800 rpms's at 65mph id look for a cam that goes from idle to 5500. dont think ive ever actually drove mine at all over 5k. if you feel like putting headers on it go with a set of shorty ones if ground clearance will be an issue. ive got longtubes on mine and they rub going in and out of driveways sometimes. i got headers from summit but cant remember the number for them. they are for a dart/duster and were only like 110 bucks if you want to search for them.
Info on headers and a bolt on dual exhaust kit.

Sorry, my crystal ball is in the shop. You got some pix and what the lines go, or went to? I dont know these bodies very well, but I'd hate to see you omit your heater controls this time of year. Haha. Check first.

ok and heres a picture of it, the best one i can do since i only have my phone but it should give you guys an idea, and after gettin rained out last weekend i finally got the engine and trans back in and bolted up along with my headers before it rained... again, but it looks so much better then an empty engine bay but yes i did get rid of the lean burn system, the damn computer went out a while back and i didn't want it anyways so i pulled it off, but i cant remember where the hell the lines went to, im pretty sure they went down to the intake and if im thinking right it might of looped back around into itself but its been to long ago and i cant remember for sure

alright guys things are going pretty good on the old diplomat but have a few questions, when i had the engine out i swaped the feedback carb with a rodchester quadrajet and now im not sure where all my vacuum lines go from the charcoal canistor and from the vacuum ports on the intake, and since i got rid of the lean burn computer all together what all electrical connectors and wiring can i get rid of?
