Air aspirator valve puffing

Hi,

1) Car= 1987 Plymouth, 318 cubic inch engine.

2) Mileage= 120,000

3) About 15,000 miles ago, I started noticing a puffing noise form the air cleaner area.

4) The car is not burning oil, and the engine has been well maintained.

5) When removing the air aspiration hose from the air cleaner, the puffing seems to be louder that what I have previously noticed on this type of emission control device.

6) The two thoughts on my mind are either the cross over passage, or the Cat is plug.

Have you tried replacing it?

A plugged Cat is NOT going to cause something like that. A plugged cat would cause the car to run rough, poor gas mileage. Another symptom of a poor cat I've seen is it'll sound like a HORRIABLE exhaust leak...

PS: Is the MIL on?

Blue, thank you!
1) What about the cross over passage in the intake manifold being plugged?

2) Has anyone any experience with this?
