any1 have nos on a 318?
i was just wondering if anyone in here has nitrous oxide on a 318 engine. just wondering what setup you used, the hp output and cost and any other modifications needed. ive got a 20lb bottle mounted in my car but its just for looks and was thinking about hooking it up just in case. also what is a safe maximum hp you could do on it?
ahh yes the Nitro got to love it personally i have only put it in gm 3800 with a super charger I even got it set up by a professional theres somthing about street engine that nitro dont like if you plan on having it on the street i wouldnt go any more than 100 but thats allot for the street i only shot 50 max and that tore the car inside and out i guess if you want to do it id do allot investigating on how to set it up i have blown 2 3800's im not going to say what to put in the mopar because i have had nothing but bad luck I hope you have good luck because let me tell you in will come in handy

I've got nitrous on my Scamps 318, it is jetted for 100 extra hp, with stock internals you can run up to 140 hp, but anything more, you need forged pistons, high strength rods, etc. remember to retard the timing 2 degrees for every added 50 hp, & a step colder plugs is a good idea too, (although I never do) & only hit the bottle above 2000 RPM (these are NOS's recommendations) My car has run a best of 13.2 off the bottle and 12.2 on the bottle , my Cordoba (stock 400) runs 15.4, & with the bottle & 125 hp jets runs 13.3 @ 104 . traction is key, if you don't have a sure grip & some decent tires, you aint goin' anywhere.
well im in the process of finding an 8.25 or 8.75 i have 3.55 for the 8.25 but cant find a decent rear end anywhere. for tires i have 255/60/15 radials in the back. better than the 205's that were on it
how long does a burst of nos last and how many shots do you get in a 10 lb bottle on a 100 hp kit. what about using it off the line for launches? do you just leave the line at about 2500 rpm then?

The nitrous is controlled by an electric solenoid valve & will stay on as long as you hold the button down. I usually get 6-8 good solid 1/4 mile runs from a 10 lb. bottle, after that, bottle pressure is lower & performance drops off. Generally speaking using nitrous at launch is a bad (dangerous) idea. at least for a street car with limited tires. I tried it once & broke 12 ring gear & 3 pinion gear teeth off of an 8 3/4 gearset.
. i would like it to run 11's off the bottle & maybe 150 -200 gas to break in to the 10's . it should have 500-550 hp with out the bottle . nitrous sounds fun . it may go low 10's with a 200 shot @ 127mph . ( 3.9 gears )
