well, if you are going to use aluminum heads, watch your compression
i've heard good things from stealth heads
how long have you had the car?

I bought it about a week ago.. no motor or trans.. it had a big block in it... and since i have a couple thats what i'd like to put back in it. as far as compression was probably gonna leave stock bottom end in it.. i'm not sure what they would be pushin in a 71 steele crank motor..

The '71 440 only had 8.5:1 the pistons are way down in the hole.If you are going to freshen up the motor with new rings/bearings anyway I would take the block to a machine shop and have it decked to maybe .005 to .010 in the hole,or go the better route with a stroker assembly, the piston, rod would be a lot lighter for faster acceleration and more power. just my .02

the 71 440 was still high compression
it wasn't until 72 that they became low compression

He said it came out of a '71 imperial, normally it would have been the 335hp version which was8.5:1. you are right though, the 440 high performance 370hp was 9.5:1 and the 440six pack 390hp was 10.5:1 but I don't think he has either one,but you never know!
