cam wont fit!

i tried putting my new cam in my 440 yesterday but the dam thing wont fit. i put new bearings in it and the old cam will slide in but the new one wont. i pulled the bearings out one by one to see what one was stopping it and it was the back one. i measured the bearing installed and the cam and there the same size. the old cam is only .001 smaller and i goes in. i know i need 1-2 thousands clearance.
so what should i do to get it to fit maybe hone where the bearing sits so it dosent smash the bearing so much or hone some material out of the bearing?

Cam won't fit?

I just had the same problem with my 440. I bought a comp thumper cam, machine shop installed new bearings but when I tried to slid it in it woould only go half way without force. I thought the bearings were installed wrong so I tried the old cam an it slid right in with no problem. I took both cams to the machine shop to have them checked and they verified that the center journal on the comp cam was 20 thousandths to big. I had them polish it down. Comp is getting slack on their QA.. Or should I say the Chinese!**^^%##.
