71 roadrunner 383 factory. Dropped the 440 in today and the passenger header top tube hits the inner fender and shock tower. the same headers fit the 383 fine. I know I am taller and broader now. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks

Thanks Bob. 700-800 bucks and needs a mini starter and I may have to go that direction but does a hooker comp work. Same part number for 383 and 440 which makes me wonder. I know the ports are the same but the broader 440 gets closer to the inner fenders.

The Hooker super Comps must hang down lower....You would have to double check with them... But there 750 ish.... Also...

 

would 426 hemi heads fit a 440
i am new to big blocks

 

the 426 hemi head is a LOT different. the main diff is a stud on the hemi head under the intake port. and a long ear cast in to the block that the studs go through. with stud nuts in the tappet valley. that location on a 440 head is a head bolt threading into block like the other head blots. i have seen a mod where the 440 is ground on and a long ear welded to the block to take the hemi stud.

 

super comp are a larger diameter ! 2 1/4"
