Educate me

Being a recent convert to the Mopar world, what are the pros/cons of the torsion bar set-up that Chrysler used on most of our cars? Ford and chevy didnt use it, cept for some trucks I think. Would like to learn the history of this and your opinions.

I'm not sure why Chrysler went this way, but I have notoiced that there is less bouce when a shock wears out compiared to a coil.

Torsion bar suspension was billed as smoother and quieter...

torsion bars were a money saver
they are cheaper, and a little kinder to the muscle car world
they last forever, and you can easily adjust the height of the car with them
if you had springs, you'd either need new springs or you'd have to cut them to achieve your desired height
