I recently saw horsepower tv buy a 360 motor. It had a fluid dampner on it. They said that it needed a metal dampner on it to balance the motor. Is this true for a 383. I have a 383 with a fluid dampner on it?

You do need the correct damper as some of the balances in in the damper and they are available in fluid damper and other brands. You can also get special balanced flex plates for the different motors from outfits like B&M. I had a SFI dampener on a 360 with a B&M balanced flex plate, no weight on the converter. Also flywheels for a stick shift

Murray, 383's are internally balanced. Yeah, I watch Horsepower TV for laughs!
