Question Roll cage advise Challenger 1971

Hi we have a cage in out car now but it doesent hug the sides of the car or roof. Its an older cage and is also in the way of the door latch to open the doors. There's a bolt that you have to grab to open the door and its hell...

#1 What roll cage kit are you using 6-8 point that has head room and you can open the doors easy. I know we can use a door bar but it would not help in this case because of the placement.

#2 I'm open to the cage coming down in the front by the dash if I don't need to remove or modify the dash. The car just needs a 10.0 cert.

I have made a cage in the past but think its easier to do a kit.

Get to know a stock car biulder in your aria, and if you buy the steal from him he might put a few bends in it for you. In other words biuld your own.

I'm no help in that case.... Mine followed the windshield pillar and dropped threw the Dash.... I used a 10 Point in my old 70 Challenger. Had a chassis shop build mine. Great job, easy access to everything...

Now My Ford Ranger Truck had a 8 Point Chris Alston Chassis Works Cage in it.
It was good for 10.0's

Ok. thanks for the advise. Some times it seems like the same 3 dudes posting on the E body stuff. ha ha.
I'm going to modify the cage we have for now because my wife wants to race the challenger. It will be test and tune for now but it will be fun. We fired up the car yester day and with the street exhaust we put on its going to get us a ticket but were just going to roll with it till they get us. ha ha

We got 60 points in div 7 ET on Saturday in the GTO we have so I'm going to race that from now on and she will do the challenger.

Sounds good.... With the door panels the way they are, You are rite. It is kind of hard to get the bars tucked to the outside and forward enough to clear the dash, Doors and make it easy to get in and out of the car.

Glad to hear your in the Division 7 Hunt...
Hope the Wifey has fun as soon as you things up and running on the Challenger....

Keep us posted on how thing turn out........
