Slant six 6 swap 1964 Dart convertible a ?

I am looking at a 64 Dart Gt convertible, for my Wife to drive on "Sunday's". Slant 6, AT, power steering, no AC, power top.

Seller wants $ 2000. Needs restoration, paint, top, rear upholstry, door panels, carpet, weatherstrip, tired engine. Cail car, rust free from above (will put on lift before I buy)

I was thinking, for future value, to drop in a 273/318/340. What do I need? What do yous think it is worth, as is needing restoration?

I have a lift, full tools. I was a mechanic but NO BODYWORK. I have little free time, due to unfinished projects! (yea, kick me for considering this!)

Well, I believe the swap won't be too hard. You will need some of the A-body style of exhaust manifolds and of course the appropriate transmission. etc. you'll figure that out pretty easy. Some of the GT trim is somewhat hard to find. (I had a 64 GT hardtop) so make sure that its all there if possible. I would upgrade to large bolt pattern disc brake setup
I seem to think that 2000 might be a little on the high side but it depends where you are at in the country. I personally do not like the converts but I guess it isa a good selling point for the ladies. I cost a bit extra to restore the converts. Make sure all the convert mechaism is there. I had no problem with the slant as far as power goes. Got my first speeding ticket in that car.

For a man who says he has little time, the restoration takes time and than look and replace a drive train sounds like a lot of down time, woman don't like down time

I was thinking resale w/ a NEAT V8 conversion, would be much higher.

I would buy a doner car, preferably w/ f. disc brakes. Anyone know what year model Mopar, would be a good donor? (to get the disc's)
