Spark Plug to Dodge 318??

Does anyone know what spark plugs should be in Dodge Pioneer 1961 with 318? In a catalog I read RJ14YC (Champion), but want to be sure.

Am very grateful for your reply ..

I did a little looking and that is a good number for both 2 and 4 barrel carb engines.

after I changed the spark plugs should I change the fuel filter, then I test and adjust the carburetor, the previous owner put down the carburetor, so it took less gasoline. But it gets so little now, so I stepped on the gas it sounds like a machine gun, and it is cold it dies easily. A friend of mine put into the carburetor and put it in standard mode (he said it is usually 1 ½ turns). but it was still to little, so he went up by about 2-3 turns, and yet it does not go well. thinking if maybe I should look for an old carburetor and change. But first, replace the spark plug and filter and see ..

The screws are for adjusting the Idle. If the car is backfiring or stalling when you first step on it its most likely the accelerator pump. If the motor is pinging it could be one of these things 1.Timing too advance 2.Carb Jetted to lean 3.Fuel octane level not high enough 4.Vacume leak.

When you remove the plugs keep them in an order to know which cylinders they came from. Search on line for a colour chart and compare to the colour of each plug, you can tell alot from just this. Fuel filter for sure and a carb rebuild kit is not too much money and not too hard if you go step by step and clean thoroughly. Kit will have new accelerator pump parts in it. When you take the plugs out take a picture and we all will have a look. Good Luck.

I do not think it's firing order, engine runs fine at idle. It is only when you press the gaspedel..

looking to buy an adapter plate so you can use four barrel carburetors on two barrel intake or vice versa. And then put on a 4 barrel carburetor on the car. Someone who thinks I should or is it better to have two barrels carburetors?

Please don't do this, adapters, that is. Waste of time and money

If you want a 4bbl, get a 4 bbl manifold.

Maybe it's better I buy a overhaul kit and see if the original is better .. Such a kit will cost type 59.74 USD here in Sweden (there are around 400 Swedish kronor) ... For a new carburetor costs between 448 USD - 900 USD in Sweden ..

Now I have changed the spark plugs. It became NGK instead of Autoline who sat in. The old spark plugs were totally black, one-piece of which even had rust and verdigris around the ignition. It lit a little better, but small shoots a bit when it spins up. Thought check ignition with one of those lights. It should be 10 degrees (according to the original manual). The vacuum hose off or be left?

When I changed the spark plugs I saw that it was leaking at the fuel filter, I changed it with a hose, temporarily. Then when I would start the car so it sounded almost like a piston knock in a spark plug or something like that .. but it did no such thing before I discover the leak (yet it was the NGK spark plugs) ... Additional anything that has to be checked up ..

Black fluffy plugs is too much fuel. Black baked on hard is oil. I think you have a carb problem. The first thing I would do is a compression test. If you buy a tester get one that has a check valve that will hold the pressure and a button to release the pressure. Post your numbers and a picture of your carb if you need help with idetifying it for a rebuild kit. Good Luck.
Here is a chart: http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_su...qs/faqread.asp

How it looks in the engine compartment, here I had just gotten home the car after I left off my old Desoto.

What I wonder is what is the first cylinder? Is it like a normal 4 cylinder car that the first is with the oil filler?
