Technical Question About a 727 Torqueflite Transmission
I am rebuilding a 1969 727 Torqueflite Transmission. After reassembling the large front clutch pack, 4 steel and 4 friction plates plus the thick pressure plate, then the large snap ring, there seems to be too much clearance in the clutch pack after the snap ring is in place. It is almost a 1/16 of an inch almost like it should have one more steel plate. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Hope someone can help me. Jerry

Get a copy of the Automatic Transmission Rebuild Series from Technical Video, it's presented by Paul Zank and is a highly detailed step by step break down and rebuild, it's excellent, I paid $10 for mine (VHS Tape #1205 Chrysler 727) on EBay. Worth every penny.
If you're in the NY area, you can borrow mine.
