When you set the timing, did you do it with the vacuum advance hooked up or disconnected and plugged? Have you done any upgrades or replaced any other parts besides the vacuum lines as of late? Have you made any adjustments to the carb?

i dont think the vaccum advance would be making it stall that much. when i went to steam clean my engine today i noticed that i forgot to hook the vaccum line up when i had it off last about 2 days ago and it ran the same as normal. well normal for my car. the carb is bad and on an air fuel guage it runs at 7.2 on one bank and 6.7 on the other. In case you didnt know optimal is 14.6 to 1 and the richest an engine will actually run is about 5.0

Sounds like a points and condenser fault ! Do you have them ? A bad condenser will make it do that.
