tranny and axles

tranny and axles

okay got a 360 for a 37 plymouth. Need a good tranny to bolt up to it. Which one hsould i choose? Also i heard and explorere rear end would suffice is that true? Any help would be appreciated.

i dont know what a exploder has in them? if it has the ford 8.8 mustang/ranger then yes it would be fine for the 360 many parts available too, trans the 904 is a smaller case so it will fit in tighter spot, but the 727 is stronger,

The 8.8 rear axles are a c-clip axle. There are c-clip eliminator kits that you can use that will make it a little stronger. Nice thing about them is that they have a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern, came with either 3.73 or 4.10 gears, limited slip in most that could be rebuilt and factory disc brakes.

I know I'll be hated for saying this but I'm surprised more people haven't swapped this axle into their vehicles.

Because an 8 3/4 is much easier to work on.

i see nothing wrong with that, there cheap and easy to come by,
