transmission questions?

How can you tell if you have a fwd or reverse valve body on a 727 torqueflite tranny. I want to put a floor shifter in my plymouth but I need to specify if it is a fwd or rev valve body. I do not know a whole lot about transmissions and would like to know what the differences are.

I assume the company who makes the shifter is asking you this? Is that the only difference between the two options?

Standard valve body: P-R-N-D-2-1

Reverse body (what is in my Dart): P-R-N-1-2-D

This way when you shift you are shifting away from park and reverse and can't Oops your way into neutral. Also when this is the case there is often a trans brake and a manual valve body. With a manual it is just like it sounds, you have to shift manualy all the time just no clutch. If yours is not a raced car in its past or presently, or if you have driven this car without any surprises, it is not reverse.
