1993 Daytona... Compatible Engine Swap???

Hello. I've got a 1993 Daytona that the engine is shot in. Nobody wants to bother rebuilding it for me; they tell me to get another engine & just swap em out. Unfortunately, the same engine isn't the easiest to find. What other engines, from what other vehicles & years, can be swapped out for mine without having to do any mods & will bolt right up? THANKS!

i have a few buddies that swapped engines from other vehicles and what happens after that was the computer couldn't compensate for the differing motors so it always ran ruff and smelled rich.
but i'm surprised your cant get parts from mopar performance to rebuild the motor.

1993 daytona/laser car would have had a 2.2 or 2.6 4 cylinder engine unless it was special order.

Tell them you want to keep the car original with matching numbers and they will rebuild it. Unless you puked a rod out the side anyways.

2.2 2.5 2.6 engines are a dime a dozen in k cars, vans etc and swap right in with minimal problems.

No one wants your money? Bizzare. Go to your local track (drag or scca) and ask the 4 cyl guys who builds their stuff.

Actually the 91 model brochure package lists the 3 engines as being 2.5, 2.5 turbo 1 and 3.0 v6 as the only models available for that year. The 3.0 being the performance model.

There was also three transmissions. a 5 speed manual, a 3 speed automatic (only on the 2.5 and 2.5 turbo) and a 4 speed automatic only available on the 3.0 v6.

again this is what the brochure said for the 91 model. I know they had 2.2, 2.2 turbo, 2.6,2.6 turbo, and 3.0 in other model years. The 2.2 turbo Dohc was in the 91-95 spirit r/t and never made it into the daytona though not sure why.
