225 slant 6- i need some tips and tricks
ive got a 225 slant 6 in my 64 dodge dart. when i rebuilt it i had the tranny (3 speed torque flight) rebuilt and the trans shop had to order a new torque converter. i dont think they bought the right one. what converter is supposed to be used with this engine and trans package? im getting nothing for acceleration. can put my foot to the floor and it ll keep up with normal traffic. and the bolts that hold the torque plate to the converter have stripped out multiple times now. also lookin for any tips you guys have for gettin some power in these engines. was gonna pull it out and put a V8 in but decided i wanna keep her somewhat original. id appreciate the feedback!! thanks

I had a 69 Dart slant 6 TF had plenty of pep. Would run all day down the highway at 80 mph
Start with the basics, Valve adjustment, compression test, and a tune up.
IT is possible that you got a bad converter ? Have you asked the shop that did the work ?

After that, there is a fairly good aftermarket support for this motors. http://www.cliffordperformance.net/index.html is one place that comes to mind.

i forgot to mention i completely rebuilt the motor with .040 bore job, oversized pistons, chrome rims, hardened valve seats, had the head machined cleaned and rebuilt, everything (i mean EVERYTHING) was either rebuilt or replaced new with top grade components. according to the trans shop when they did the trans (the only thing i dont trust myself touching) they ordered a brand new converter. i literally have no experience with an automatic tranny. whats the difference in converters? i had an old fart (smartest mopar man i know) tell me that had to be the problem. but i dont even know where to start. before the rebuild, she had 4 times the power she has now

Have you pulled the dip stick to see what the fluid looks like? You could have a bad torque convertor. I've seen new ones fail right out of the box at the dealership.
