I have a 1971 stock 318 motor, I'm trying to make as much power as possible out of the motor without boosting it as I'm going for a factory look. I only have a budget of 1100 dollars. what parts should I be looking at to make the most horse power? I know for sure that cam shaft upgrades are going to give a good amount of hp to the engine but what kind should I look into?

 

The first thing you need to verify the health of the motor, a compression test is were I would start.


Camshaft, spring's, timing chain
A good valve job
Intake and carb
Distributor and ignition
Headers and exhaust

You don't have the money.
