34 Dodge - Maiden Voyage - Better Exhaust Needed
So last night I took my '34 Dodge around the block for its maiden voyage.... see here:
Right now, both sides dump down into 3", into an H pipe, and then both sides go thru Hedman 3" glasspacks and right out in front of the rear wheels.....
This setup is LOUD..... Ideally, I'd like to cut the glasspacks out and swap in some nicer mufflers that will help tone it down a bit.
1- Is it possible to tame my nearly 500HP Mopar 440 big block?
2- Dimensions I need to stick within: 24" long, 4" high
3- I'd need mufflers with an offset input and output, both on same side
I'm somewhat familiar with flowmasters, magnaflows, borla.... are there other brands out there that will produce just as nice of a sound for perhaps cheaper? Anything that could be picked up locally at a Pep Boys / Advanced / Autozone?
I'm open to suggestions / opinions...
When I built the car, I called several different torque converter places, and I gave them my engine specs..... they pretty much all suggested a 3000 stall converter. So that is what I put in.... HOWEVER, after driving the car, you have to really get those RPMs up to get it moving, which in turn makes it LOUDER.
Thanks everyone!!!

Here you can see the exhaust dump....... it is already narrowed down by quite a bit....
I think what I'm going to try to do this weekend is cut out the existing glass packs, and weld in some Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow mufflers. We'll see what that sounds like Anything has to be better than what it is now I'd think?

It's tight under the car..... but fits perfect. .... Fired it up for a little bit in the garage tonight..... less "tinny" and more bassy sounding now. It was late so I didn't wanna run it too long. Hoping to get it outside tomorrow after work...
