why do you need a cam that big? the O.E.M. cam for 68 was not that big. i have to guess you want a full out race car. and thats fine. sounds like a lot of fun. 340, 1968 Camshaft
4-Speed
.444 /.453 Lift ~ 276*/284" Duration ~ 52* Overlap
Automatic
.430/.444 Lift ~ 268*/276* Duration ~ 44* Overlap ~ 114* Center-Line
this 4 speed cam was first AND last year it was used O.E.M.

Define "street friendly motor."
With that cam, that is the furthest thing from "street friendly" in my book you could get
You need LOW gears
heavy clutch
REAL high stall converter
light vehicle weight
Buy a gas truck to follow you around.

Street Freindly = If you can't tune it, Don't buy it!
I used the 292/509 in a low compression 318 with 2.02 T/A heads, Six Pak, 10" converter, MP Electronic distributor, 3.55:1 gears 3600lbs = 14.82 1/4 mile daily driver as a mule engine for 17,000 miles. It took a little tuning at first but ran meticulously.
As always, it's all in how commited you are to the tuneup.
