360 5.9L Exaust magnaflow vs flowmaster??
Last year i had a single 3" exaust from the stock y pipe back striaght into a flowmaster 40, however im not liking the sound as it sounds too tinny, not loud enough and doesn't have enough tone. Is this because i still have the stock Y?
I want it LOUD but not to sound like a farm tractor, i was going to weld in a cherrybomb glasspack in place of the flowmaster but what would this sound like compared to True dual exaust 2.5" from the manifolds back into two 14" round body magnaflows?

I would grab a flowmaster or spintech's (or another vendor) y adapter. Its a small y section that has 2.5 inch in x2 by one 3inch out and have that y redone from the exhaust manifold or headers. Especially if you have a flowmaster 40 and the back half of the system is 3inch and in good shape.
Fix whats broken and adjust for sound once your system is flowing.

A single inlet muffler with dual outlets and dual tailpipes may be the answer.
It definitely sounds different than a single inlet muffler with a single tailpipe because all of the pulses meld into one pipe and will actually sound smoother...

Buy the Summit dual 3" cat back. Throw away their turbo muff. In it's place install a Summit "race" muffler, 3" in dual 2 1/2" out with 2 1/2" to 3" adapters welded on. Finish it off with Summit stainless 18" X 3 1/2" tips. Total investment of $300. This is the setup on my 01 5.2L Ram. Sounds like thunder. Way better than the flowmaster kit that I used to have.
