Hello got a new felpro intake gasket for my 383 it came with a little tube of rtv where should I put the silicone because I understand it can't go all around but I'm sure it came with the gasket for a reason. Thanks.

 

Water passages

 

i thought that there wasn't any water passages on the big block intakes just the small block intakes. Not exactly sure where they would be please elaborate thanks.

Throw the Fel-Pro RTV away and grab a tube of Ultra Grey Permatex. Spray or paint both sets of intake gaskets on both sides with Copper Coat (Not spray copper gasket maker) and let them get tacky. Lay your first set onto the heads and trim to your ports if you need to, then lay a thin bead of RTV along the bottom edge of the gasket across the entire head. (This will prevent oil and crankcase pressure from making its way into your intake runners) Then run a thin bead of RTV on the front and back edges of the block where your valley pan will be bolted down. Make sure to get a good dollop in the 4 creases where the head meets the block. Lay your valley pan on, finger tighten all 6 bolts until RTV starts to squish out a little. Throw your top set of Copper Coated gaskets on(trimming if needed), lay your intake manifold down and torque it down. Wait an hour and torque the 6 valley pan bolts and youre done.

There are no water passages in BB Heads, youre only using it to protect against crankcase pressure making its way into your runners or oil/CCP escaping from under the valley pan.
