383 ROAD RUNNER ENGINE UPGRADES

I'm planning to do some engine upgrades during the upcoming winter on my 68 383 4 speed Road Runner. I'd like to install another cam to give the engine a noticeable lope and am considering a Comp Cams XE262H. I want to maintain the factory cast iron exhaust manifolds and also not get into changing the valve springs, etc. I'm also planning to install one of the throttle body fuel injection kits but haven't yet decided on which one nor which intake manifold would be best suited. If anyone here has some knowledge regarding these changes I'd surely appreciate hearing your thoughts.

I think the cam would work nicely but I'm not a fan of changing a cam and not the springs. On the big mopar changing springs with the heads on is not a big deal. I say get the springs. 👍

I would hold off on the cam selection until you select your EFI system then ask different manufacturers for their recommendation. That 262 would work great with a carb. I also would think seriously about going with a roller cam system then no worries about oil or lobe wear. Don’t forget to update your oiling system, always good insurance and often overlooked.

I would pull the motor and have it reset at 10.0.1 C.R. And then move forward..

Thanks to all for your thoughts and response. I won't be making any changes until after Hot August Nights in Reno but I'll keep everyone posted.

Have fun. Good Show... Be careful if you run into my friend (Mr.Jean On the Lic Plate)" Blue Corvette or his Yellow 56 Pick up"... Him and I use to have the same home racetrack. O.C.I.R and Irwindale...
