440 casting numbers

I picked up a good running 440 about a year ago. Does anyone know how many horsepower I can get if I have it rebuilt.

casting numbers are 2536430-4
date 6 23 65

intack manifold 2206000

Is the intake manifold a good one to stay with?

This was in a 1965 Chrysler Imperial with 60,000 miles.

I have a 1971 barracuda originally had 225 6cyl now has 1970 340 but may put 440 in.

How deep are your pockets? Rebuild the short block, put on a set of eddy, indy aluminum heads, nice cam and headers. Not to hard to make horsepower with a big block.

Now,for the '71 cuda,I would stay with the small block! I put a 440 into my '73 cuda, yes I do love it,but if I had to do it over again I would go small block! PITA!!

The amount of horsepower really depends on what you want to do. Do you want a drag car, a cruiser?

Cheap on the fly rebuild...honing and new rings might get you 300 horses. More money and parts gets you 400 to 500 with stuff like John Van mentioned.
