440 coolant restrictors?

I am trying to build my own thermostat substitutes from fender washers. The ones I ordered have a thickness of 0.050-0.080. Does anybody have a block sitting there, so that they could remove the thermostat housing and measure the depth? I want to make sure that the washers are not too thick for the housing. The old thermostat I have has a flange of about 0.055 thick, so there must be at least that much room in there ...

Thanks

Did that. It is a little over 0.050". But I do not know if that is a tight fit, or there is some clearance in the T-stat flange ...

Hope the second.

Thanks
