70 dart swinger

Unhappy 70 dart swinger

hello all. I have a question for whoever may be able to help me. I inherited a 1970 dodge dart swinger 340 it was my dads car and im not a mopar guy and im getting ready to sell the car and the problem im having with it is that the transmission pan is leaking when the car sits for more than like a day. I know my dad had this fixed a couple of times and never completly fixed it. I recently just took it to a friend of mine that owns a transmission shop and he attempted to fix it but it is still leaking. I remember my dad saying that the mopar heads had told him that its a common problem on them and that there is really no fix. Does anyone out there know of a solution?

New gasket, permatex, make sure the pan is flat at the mounting holes and DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE BOLTS!

Yes, use an inch pound torque wrench to tighten.

If your going to sell it would you offer it to the members here first?
I'm sure it would find a good home.

It might be the torq converter is draining back into the pan, over filling the unit and it is leaking from the filler tube.
Just a thought

Once the pan has been off once or twice It is hard to get it to seal...It gets warped. Just get a new pan and if you can find one ? Get the metal reinforced gasket

Thanks a bunch guys. This info will help me much. I will posts pics on here of the dart for sale in a week or so. Sorry for the delay on the pics but im leaving for hawaii tomorrow and wont be back for a week. I am located about an hour from st louis. Thanks again

hey guys i got the car fixed and no leaks now. thanks again. and for the guys asking for pictures of this dart that is for sale I posted them in pictures and albums. the car is officially for sale.
